FLAIR AND FINESSE: Sonja Motus and Kelsey Josling strut their stuff on at Samuel Marsden Collegiate School last night. Pupils presented their own version of haute couture with the 'New Zealand Made Fashion Show'.
Sonja Motus and Kelsey Josling strutted their stuff on the high school catwalk last night.
With goodie bags, thumping music and the latest designer wares, it could have been a national fashion show at Samuel Marsden Collegiate School last night. Instead, it was pupils presenting their own version of haute couture with the "New Zealand Made Fashion Show". Organisers Elisha Watson, 18, and Maddie McLeod, 18, were buzzing around the school making last-minute decisions before the show.
"We've spent hundreds of hours calling designers and asking them to put something in," Elisha said.
The girls, who said they were not avid fashionistas to start off with, wanted to make a splash and settled on the patriotic theme quickly.
"If it's a school organising it, you need to have some kind of integrity to it," Elisha said. Proceeds from the show, expected to be about $10000, go to CanTeen.
